The Kriaučius stone lies in a flat plowed field, by the road Kražiai-Jauniškė, almost on top of a sleek 157 m high hill. This boulder is the third largest stone in Lithuania. The length of the boulder is 7.84 m, the width is 7.65 m, the height is over 4 m, the maximum horizontal circumference is 23.2 m. This boulder (more precisely, a small upper part protruding above the ground) has long been known to the locals. However, it was not until 1974 the reclamators who worked here pushed the ground for the first time with a bulldozer and exposed the back of the boulder more widely. In 1989, using pulley blocks borrowed from the Mažeikiai Oil Plant with arm-thick ropes and two anchors buried in the ground, the boulder was stretched to the surface and pulled to the nearest hill in Vileikiai village.
Koks akmens svoris? Niekur nerandu info.
Jeigu nuoroda į akmenį būtų ne tik šalia akmenuko, bet ir Jauniškės kryžkelėje prie magistralinio kelio - lankytojų būtų kur kas daugiau :).
