CHURCH OF EVANGELICAL REFORMED IN KELMĖ

Church

The church was built in 1615 with the funds of Samogitian elder Jurgis Gruževskis. It is one of the most beautiful mixed Gothic and Renaissance buildings in Lithuania. The church is single-nave, single-tower, with a Gothic three-walled apse, Gothic windows. The proportions of the building are extended to the length and upwards. Inside the church, Gothic cross vaults with stuccoed ribs and rosettes made of stucco, renaissance pilasters' capitals have survived. The coat of arms of the nobility Gruževskis was built above the triumphal arch separating the presbytery. A clock was installed in the tower of Kelmė church, parts of which have survived to this day.
